Instructions for preparing and submitting manuscripts to Green and Sustainable Environments
Manuscript Types
Research Article
4,000–8,000 wordsOriginal research presenting new findings with clear methodology, results, and discussion.
Review Article
6,000–12,000 wordsComprehensive and critical review of recent developments in a specific topic area. Authors should provide a balanced perspective and identify future research directions.
Short Communication
2,000–3,000 wordsBrief reports of significant preliminary findings, novel methods, or important negative results that warrant rapid publication.
Case Report
2,000–4,000 wordsDetailed analysis of a specific case or scenario with practical implications for the field.
Letter to the Editor
1,000–1,500 wordsCommentary on recently published articles or brief discussion of topics relevant to the journal scope.
Editorial
1,000–2,000 wordsInvited contributions by editors or guest authors on topics of current interest. By invitation only.
Manuscript Preparation
Article Structure
Research articles should follow the IMRAD structure. All manuscripts must include the following elements in order:
Figures & Tables
Figures
- Minimum resolution: 300 dpi for photographs, 600 dpi for line art
- Accepted formats: TIFF, PNG, JPEG, EPS, PDF
- Submit as separate files, numbered sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)
- Provide descriptive captions below each figure
- Color figures are published free of charge
- Include a Graphical Abstract (recommended) — a single figure summarizing the main findings
Tables
- Use Word's table feature (not images of tables)
- Number consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, etc.)
- Provide a brief title above each table
- Define abbreviations in footnotes below the table
- Avoid vertical lines; use horizontal lines sparingly
References
All references should follow APA 7th Edition style. Include DOI where available.

Supplementary Materials
Supplementary materials that support the findings but are not essential for the main narrative may be submitted alongside the manuscript.
- Accepted formats: PDF, Word, Excel, images, video (MP4)
- Maximum file size: 50 MB per file
- Must be referenced in the main text (e.g., "see Supplementary Figure S1")
- Raw datasets should be deposited in a public repository (e.g., Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad) and referenced via DOI
Ethics & Declarations
All manuscripts must include the following declarations, placed before the References section:
Author Contributions
Use CRediT taxonomy to specify each author's contribution (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing).
Funding
List all funding sources with grant numbers. State "No external funding" if applicable.
Conflicts of Interest
Declare all potential conflicts. State "The authors declare no conflict of interest" if none exist.
Data Availability
State where the data supporting the findings can be accessed or why data cannot be shared.
Ethics Approval
For research involving humans or animals, provide the ethics committee name and approval number.
Informed Consent
Confirm informed consent was obtained from participants (where applicable).
Submission Process
Prepare Your Manuscript
Follow the formatting guidelines above. Include all required sections and declarations.
Submit Online
Upload your manuscript through our online submission system. Create an account if you don't have one.
Editorial Assessment
The Editor-in-Chief or a handling editor will assess your submission for scope and quality (desk review).
Peer Review
Your manuscript will be sent to at least two independent reviewers for single-blind peer review.
Decision & Revision
You will receive a decision: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Revisions must be submitted within 4 weeks.
Publication
Accepted manuscripts are published online first, then assigned to a volume/issue. Average time to publication: 6–8 weeks.
Peer Review
Green and Sustainable Environments employs a rigorous single-blind peer review process. Reviewer identities are concealed from authors.
Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers selected for their expertise in the relevant field. Reviewers assess manuscripts for originality, scientific rigor, clarity, and relevance to the journal scope.
