Our Mission
The Green and Sustainable Materials Society is a non-profit organization committed to advancing scientific research in green chemistry, sustainable materials, environmental science, and membrane technology. We publish peer-reviewed, open-access journals that make high-quality research freely available to the global scientific community.
Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and fostering international collaboration among researchers, engineers, and policymakers.
Open Access Publishing
All journals published by Green and Sustainable Materials Society are Gold Open Access — articles are freely available immediately upon publication with no subscription barriers. All content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Launch Promotion — APCs Fully Waived
To support our journals during their launch phase, all Article Processing Charges (APCs) are currently waived. Authors pay nothing to publish in any GSMS journal — this waiver applies throughout each journal's first three published volumes.
- ✓ Submission fee — Free
- ✓ Article Processing Charge — Free
- ✓ Color figures & supplementary materials — Free
- ✓ No hidden fees or post-acceptance surcharges
Planned APC Structure (post-launch)
Once a journal completes its launch phase, a modest APC will be introduced to sustain long-term operations. Planned APCs for GSMS journals will fall within the range of USD $100 to $500 per article — well below the industry average of USD $2,500+ for comparable open-access journals.
The APC covers
Equitable Access — Waiver Policies
We are committed to keeping publication accessible regardless of an author's geography or financial situation. Even after APCs are introduced, the following waivers will remain in place:
LMIC Waiver
Authors affiliated with institutions in World Bank low-income or lower-middle-income economies receive automatic full or partial APC waivers.
Society Member Waiver
Members of the Green and Sustainable Materials Society receive significant APC discounts or full waivers, depending on membership tier.
Hardship Waiver
Authors facing financial difficulties may request a case-by-case waiver. Ability to pay never influences editorial decisions — acceptance is determined solely by scientific merit and peer review.
Our Journals
Green and Sustainable Environments
Green and Sustainable Environments is an international open-access journal dedicated to advancing innovative approaches that support genuinely green and long-lasting environmental solutions. It focuses on strategies that reduce pollution and resource consumption, promote circularity, and enhance the resilience of natural and built systems. The journal highlights practices that balance environmental integrity, social well-being, and economic feasibility in the face of rapid urbanization and climate change.
Green and Sustainable Membranes
Green and Sustainable Membranes is an international open-access journal dedicated to sustainable and energy-efficient membrane technologies, with a particular emphasis on advancing and highlighting membrane research in Indonesia. The journal publishes high-quality studies on membrane materials, fabrication, performance, and applications in water treatment, gas separation, energy processes, and circular-economy solutions. It welcomes original research, reviews, short communications, and technical notes.
Greensusmater
Greensusmater is a premier, gold open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing green and sustainable materials science and technology. While global in scope, the journal places special emphasis on highlighting and supporting sustainable materials research from Indonesia, focusing on innovations that reduce environmental impact and enhance circular, climate-resilient systems.

Indexing & Discovery
Our articles are registered with CrossRef for DOI assignment and citation linking, indexed by Google Scholar, and harvested via the OAI-PMH protocol by metadata aggregators. We are actively pursuing indexing in DOAJ, Scopus, and Web of Science.
Digital Preservation
Safeguarding the long-term accessibility of the scholarly record is a core responsibility of any publisher. Articles published by Green and Sustainable Materials Society are archived through the Internet Archive Scholar programme, ensuring that published content remains discoverable and retrievable even if our own platform becomes unavailable.
As our publishing volume grows, we plan to enrol in formal distributed preservation networks such as CLOCKSS and the PKP Preservation Network. We believe that being transparent about our current preservation posture — and our roadmap — is more important than over-claiming compliance.
