Terms of use

GSMS Publications (pubs.greensus.org) is published by the Green and Sustainable Materials Society (“the Society”, “we”). By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.

The terms cover this website, the journal pages, article pages, search, feeds and the metadata services described below. Submitting a manuscript, reviewing or editing for one of our journals takes place in separate systems and is governed additionally by the documents listed in section 8. How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.

Articles in our journals are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), and the copyright in each article belongs to its authors. Unless an article or a figure is marked otherwise, you may therefore:

In return you must give appropriate credit (authors, title, journal, DOI), link to the licence, and indicate if you made changes, without suggesting the authors or the Society endorse you or your use. You may not add legal or technical restrictions that stop others doing what the licence allows.

Exceptions. Material that authors reproduced from elsewhere with permission (a figure from another publisher, a photograph, a logo) is identified in its caption or credit line and may be under different terms; check before reusing it. If an article was published under a different licence, the licence stated on its page prevails. Retracted articles remain available for the record but must not be redistributed as if they were valid science; keep the retraction notice with them.

The CC BY licence applies to the articles, not to everything on the site. The design, layout, software and original editorial text of GSMS Publications, and the names and logos of the Society, of GSMS Publications and of each journal, belong to the Society or its licensors. You may quote from our pages and link to any of them freely. You may not present the site, or part of it, as your own; use a journal's name or logo in a way that suggests affiliation or endorsement; or register confusingly similar names or domains.

Reasonable uses that do not need permission: linking to us, showing a journal cover or logo when citing or reviewing the journal, listing our journals in a library catalogue or discovery index, and screenshots for teaching or criticism. For anything else, ask at admin@greensus.org.

We want our journals to be indexed, harvested and analysed. Bibliographic metadata about our articles (titles, authors, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, references, identifiers and licence information) is dedicated to the public domain under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. You may copy, modify, distribute and build on it, for any purpose, without permission and without attribution, though we appreciate a link back. The same metadata is deposited with Crossref, which redistributes it under the same terms. Full text is CC BY as above.

Automated access for these purposes is welcome. Please identify your crawler in its user-agent with a contact address, use OAI-PMH or the sitemaps rather than crawling search results, respect robots.txt, and keep to a rate the service can sustain (a few requests per second is fine). We may throttle or block traffic that degrades the site for others, and will lift the block once we have heard from you.

Using the site, you agree not to:

• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, account or data behind the site, or probe it for vulnerabilities other than through responsible disclosure to admin@greensus.org;
• interfere with its operation, for example by flooding the search, tracking or subscription endpoints, or by submitting false data to them;
• subscribe other people to e-alerts, or use our forms to send messages to third parties;
• misrepresent an article, a journal or the Society, for example by altering an article and presenting it as the published version, or by removing a retraction notice;
• use the names or email addresses published on the site for unsolicited bulk mailing.

We may suspend access from an address or network that breaches these terms. Nothing here restricts what the CC BY licence permits with the articles themselves.

Articles express the views and findings of their authors, who are responsible for them. Publication after peer review means that independent experts and an editor judged the work worth publishing; it is not a guarantee that every result is correct, and the Society, its editors and reviewers do not endorse the conclusions of any article. Nothing on the site is professional advice; experimental procedures, safety information and materials data should be verified before use.

Where an article is found to be wrong, we correct the record rather than deleting it (see Corrections & retractions); the current status of every article is shown by its Crossmark button. We take care that the site's own content (journal information, policies, metrics) is accurate and up to date, but we do not warrant that it is free of error.

The site and its content are provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, the Society excludes liability for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or its content, or from its unavailability. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Our pages link to other sites (cited references, repositories, funders, the Society's own site) and embed a few services from other organisations, such as the Crossmark widget and the Dimensions citation badge, each listed in the Privacy notice. We are not responsible for the content or practices of those sites and services, and a link is not an endorsement. Anyone may link to any page on this site; please do not frame our pages inside another site in a way that hides their origin.

Authors, reviewers and editors work in the submission portal at submit.revise.id and, after acceptance, in the production system. By submitting a manuscript you confirm that it is your own original work, that every listed author has agreed to be listed and to these terms, that you hold the rights needed for any third-party material, and that the work complies with our publication ethics policy and the author guidelines of the journal. On acceptance you agree to publication under CC BY 4.0 and grant the Society the non-exclusive publishing rights described in Publishing policies.

Reviewers agree to keep manuscripts confidential, to declare conflicts of interest and to follow the reviewer guidance in Review for us. Decisions on manuscripts are editorial judgements taken under our peer review policy; the appeals and complaints routes are in Publishing policies.

We aim to keep the site available at all times but cannot promise uninterrupted service; it may be paused for maintenance or fail for reasons outside our control. Published articles are also registered with Crossref and exposed for harvesting so that they remain findable and citable independently of this website (see Digital preservation).

We may change these terms. The date of the current version is shown in the sidebar; material changes are announced in News. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continue to apply.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts, without prejudice to rights that consumers or authors may have under the mandatory law of their own country.
